So October is here and on top of way too much Halloween hype its also bringing along a whole load of brand new games for PS Plus subscribers to experience for free right now. We get a grand total of 7 games to get stuck into this month with 6 of them being playable on the PS4 so without wasting any more time lets get straight into this.
Friday The 13th the Game
Easily the biggest Title we get this month and fitting straight in with the spooky setting of October is Friday the 13th. This online horror show pits a group of players as counselors against one player as Jason who is tasked with hunting them down and killing them one by one is spectacular fashion before they can escape. There’s also an offline singleplayer experience to be played through and plenty of easter eggs for eagle-eyed horror fans to spot. The game hasn’t had the strongest of player bases but something tells me a lot more people are about to give this a try. Will you be spending Halloween night trying this one out?
Laser League
Yet another multiplayer title for this month, Laser League pits teams of 2 v 2, or 3 v 3 against one another who desperately try to eliminate each other using laser fields. From what I’ve seen this is a classic easy to pick up and play but hard to master. The game becomes a strategic battle with timing and planning becoming crucial and the futuristic tone the game takes with its design sure makes it look like a lot of fun.
The Bridge
The first of our PS3 titles that are still playable on the PS4 and the PSVita is The Bridge. A charming little 2D puzzler where you must shift perspective and make use of the game’s physics to solve various puzzles. The art style reminds of games such as Limbo and Inside, certainly not a bad thing, and I’m a big fan of Puzzlers so I might have to give this one a try in my spare time. Reviews for this at the time where fairly positive and whilst it might not be to the scale of some other PS Plus games it still looks like an interesting experience.
Master Reboot
Master Reboot is a story-driven first-person exploration game with some limited puzzles but plenty of secrets to find which help drive the story forward. Nothing groundbreaking, especially with a short 3 hour, runtime but its art style intrigues me and I like the idea of having to be vigilant to find hidden secrets and learn more about the world. I might give this one a try but it won’t be near the top of my To Play list.
RocketBirds 2 Evolution
The first of 2 PSVita games now, both playable on the PS4 is RocketBirds 2 Evolution. Yes, it’s as wacky as it sounds. That’s not to say it isn’t fun because there’s plenty to love about this 2D twin-Stick shooter and watching birds blow the living crap out of waves of enemies all whilst trying to save their friends. The visuals are about as crazy as the premise of the game and I believe there is a story to it but that might not be the reason to pick this one up. If nothing else it’ll definitely be a laugh to play through if you’ve got nothing else going on.
Worth mentioning that the recurring Knowledge is Power is still available this month as well but that’s been here before so I won’t be covering it.
2064 ROM
The 7th and Final game of the month and the only one not available for the PS4 is 2064 Read Only memory a story-driven adventure with arcade-style retro graphics. A robot shows up at your home and gets the ball going and an intriguing tale which I’ll say no more about. Some great voice acting here but plenty of reading to do as well when talking to so many characters so don’t sit to close to your monitor. Just kidding sit as close as you want. It’s a free country.
That does it for the free titles this month but before you go there’s still some pretty cool deals and some smaller freebies up for grabs.
Fornite and Dark Eclipse
Some free games to get exclusive PS Plus packs are Fortnite and Dark Eclipse. If you are an avid player of Fortnite and you fancy expressing your PlayStation Pride now with cross-compatibility you can with the exclusive Pickaxe, glider, and Playstation themed skydiver trails.
Fas of Drak Eclipse can also enjoy an exclusive Skin, some PSN Avatars and a dynamic theme based off the game for no extra cost so if that’s your thing go have at it.
Deals
There’s a huge 60% Ubisoft games deal going on right now with games like Rainbow Six and South Park being around £12 and AC Origins being about £25 so now be a good time to snatch up some of Ubisoft’s better titles. There’s some great PS Plus deals right now with the Crew being only £7, Ghost Recons Season Pass is now half off and there are some great add-ons for Warframe, one of the Ps4’s best free to play games so if you want to add a little extra to your favorite titles now might be a good time to check out some offers.
Overall a pretty strong month for PS Plus subscribers. There seem to be more items this month which are smaller in scale rather than fewer more substantial items like September but there’s still plenty to get excited about for October. I’ll certainly be trying out Friday The 13th and maybe The Bridge but what about you? What will you be playing this month? Lets us know down below or over on Twitter.
