Hold on to your controller’s folks. October’s upcoming PS Plus line up has been officially revealed and it contains one of the best video games of all time, and it’s just in time to add to the hype train for its sequel. We also have an option for all you sports nuts out there but trust me, the star of this months show is by far the best PS Plus offering we have had for quite some time. Both titles are free to those with an active PS Plus subscription and can be downloaded the first Tuesday of the month (October 1st). Right, let’s get into this!
The Last Of Us Remastered
First, up this month we have not only the best PS Plus offering of this year (in my opinion) but also one of the greats games ever made. Naughty Dog’s very own, The Last Of Us. The PS3 classic remastered for the PS4 with not only update visuals to make it look even better but updated controls to, so it runs a little smoother as well. If for some bizarre reason you don’t know what The Last Of Us is, allow me to fill you in. From Uncharted developers Naughty Dog this third-person, survival-horror game puts you in the boots of Joel, a survivor tasked with escorting and protecting a young girl named Ellie across the post-apocalyptic wastes of the USA. Zombies caused by a fungal outbreak litter the land and are just as dangerous as other groups of survivors who may be out to steal your supplies. An emphasis on stealth gameplay, with the option to go guns blazing if you wish and an in-depth crafting system which makes you feel like Macgyver when you’re crafting nail bombs and homemade melee weapons.
A fantastic story, brilliant performances from the entire cast, brutal yet gripping gameplay and even a multiplayer to jump into after you’ve finished the main story. The Last Of Us is an absolute must play.
The Last Of Us has a Metacritic score of 95 and a user score of 9.1. Check out the trailer below:
MLB The Show 19
Our second game this month isn’t exactly on The Last Of Us’ level but is great for fans of the sport. MLB The Show 19, or Major Leaguer Baseball for those of us who don’t play the sport. Similar to other sporting titles like Fifa or NBA 2K but for Baseball instead. All sorts of different elements of Baseball are brought to life in The Show 19 from playing actual matches, to managing and building a team. You never know, this might be the best sports game you’ve never tried. There are also some free goodies for PS Plus players if you log in between October 1st and 31st, so you get a nice head start into your Baseball career.
The Show 19 has a Metacritic score of 86 and a user score of 7.9, so it’s got some respectable reviews. Check out the trailer below:
Deal of the Week
The deal of the week on the PlayStation Store right now is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, at £16.49 with 70% off. This is a game you simply have to play if you haven’t already.
PlayStation Retro
We have some classic Playstation hits on offer as well. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is 50% off at £17.49, Spyro Reignited Trilogy is also 50% off at £17.49. The Devil May Cry HD Collection & 4SE Bundle is currently £17.99 at 55% off, and the Resident Evil Triple Pack, which includes Resident Evil 4, 5 and, 6 is £12.99 at 67% off.
