According to THR, Frye will be reprising her role in a revival by Universal Content Productions. A network has not yet been attached, but the tv sequel will be written and exec produced by Steve and Jim Armogida. Frye is also set to exec produce.
The TV revival will see Punky as a single mom of three who attempts to get her life on track. This is after she meets a young woman who reminds her of her younger self.
This is not the first revival, technically, as it did have an animated spinoff for two seasons from 1985-1986.
