With Bond 25 reported to be Daniel Craig’s last turns as 007, speculation has run rampant who might fill Craig’s shoes. Let’s add another name to the list of possibilities as The Sun based in the UK reports that Richard Madden, he of Game of Thrones (Robb Stark) fame is being seriously considered for the role.
According to the report, Bond executive producer Barbara Broccoli is considering offering Madden the role following Craig’s departure. Madden reportedly has impressed Broccoli with his performance in the BBC thriller Bodyguard and is “on top of Barbara’s list.
Madden is best known for his role as Robb Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones as well as his Star turning performance in the Bodyguard. While the report indicates that Madden hasn’t been officially offered the role yet, there’s a possibility he might still decline or otherwise not get the role.
Although there were some reports that the production might be looking to replace Craig with a person of color or woman, Broccoli, in a recent report, shot down the possibility of the latter. Bond 25 is set to be Daniel Craig’s last performance in the iconic role, ending his five-movie run that began in 2007 with Casino Royale.
Directed by Cary Fukunaga, Bond 25 stars Daniel Craig and is tentatively scheduled for release on Feb. 14, 2020.
