While Robert Pattinson might debate whether Batman is a “Superhero,” he doesn’t question his excitement in playing the iconic character. This is a role that has been established in other films and he looks forward to it. He sees it as a chance to build upon the foundation laid before and to add his interpretation.
He expressed his anticipation and appreciation for Batman’s history in a recent interview with Today.
I love the kind of history of the part. I love every iteration of how it’s been played. It’s a very, very special part and I think it’s been very carefully — I feel like everyone’s really looked after the character and its history and there’s a lot of reverence for it. You can really feel it in the studio. You can’t say no to it and I really wanted to say yes.
Of course, he did say yes. Because of this, Pattinson is in preparation for the role. In fact, he has already had an opportunity to try on the iconic suit and it was very transformative according to the actor.
“It’s maybe the craziest thing I’ve ever done in terms of movie stuff,” Pattinson said in an interview. “I put it on. I remember saying to Matt Reeves, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit.’
