Ryan Coogler to Produce ‘Space Jam 2’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6279″ img_size=”768×433″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Coinciding with Twitter’s trending hashtag #GreatestThingsAboutThe90s, Spam Jam was one of the greatest movies to watch as a kid. We have basketball legend Michael Jordan on a whacky adventure with the characters of Looney Tunes. As someone who grew up watching Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the gang, it was an incredibly entertaining film that I could put on today and watch – on my VCR!

Since we love the 90s, we shouldn’t be surprised that a sequel is happening. More than twenty years after the original hit theaters in 1996, NBA star LeBron James and the mastermind behind Black Panther, Ryan Coogler, will be producing Space Jam 2. Terence Nance will direct the movie, which is slated to be released in 2019. LeBron James will be the star of the sequel, taking the place of Michael Jordan. This will be James’ first starring role after his supporting character in the 2015 Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck.

On working with Coogler, James expressed:

“I loved his vision. So, for Ryan to be able to bring that to the kids, it’s amazing.”

James is also clearly excited to be starring in the sequel to such an iconic, pop culture movie:

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” says James, “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”

Are you excited to relive your childhood?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
