Did you ever wonder about Nurse Ratched from the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest? Probably not, she was the villain of the movie, of course; but Netflix has just ordered a two season, 18-episode series called Ratched by Ryan Murphy starring Sarah Paulson. Paulson will portray a younger version of the horrific nurse; so having Paulson around does make this better.
The cast of this Netflix series actually does make up for the peculiar storyline focus. Paulson will be joined by Sharon Stone, Cynthia Nixon, Finn Wittrock, Jon Jon Briones, Charlie Carver, Judy Davis, Harriet Harris, Hunter Parrish, Amanda Plummer, and Corey Stoll. The list was announced via Murphy’s Instagram page and having such a plethora of talent will surely round out the series, though; I am still on the fence on this one. While the original movie itself is nestled in my heart as one of the best films of all time, I never really wanted the backstory on Nurse Ratched.

We already know the outcome, so Ratched will follow Paulson during her descent into one of the most hated movie villains, starting in 1947.
