Many fans have lamented that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire never got the chance for a fourth Spider-Man film. Unfortunately, the mixed reviews of Spider-Man 3 caused Sony to switch gears and reboot Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield as The Web-Slinger. That hasn’t stopped fans from wondering what if. Apparently Director Raimi has given the film some thought as well.
Recently, Raimi discussed what might have been and his plans of using John Malkovich in the role of The Vulture. This would have preceded the Michael Keaton version. Why John Malkovich? Raimi explained to Reddit AMA while promoting his film, The Grudge.
Because he’s such a powerful actor. I could fear him and worry for Peter Parker. And it’s just the craft of casting. Basically it boils down to this : I believe that he could be that guy.
With the wide variety of roles Malkovich has played, it would be no issue imagining him as The Vulture. What could have been. How about it Spider-Man fanatics?
