The world’s most lovable mystery-solving dog, along with best friend Shaggy and the rest of the gang, bring on the laughs and adventures on this double-feature Blu-ray™ release! In Scooby-Doo and The Witch’s Ghost, Scooby, Shaggy and co. get tied up with bumbling mummies and monster turkeys when famous fright-writer, Ben Ravencroft, invites the gang to his hometown for the Autumn Harvest Festival. There, they learn that Ben’s ancestor, Sarah, haunts the place, and they set out to uncover the ghostly Ravencroft secret that will prove her either a good-hearted healer or a spell-casting witch. In Scooby-Doo and The Alien Invaders, Scooby, Shaggy and the Mystery, Inc. are stranded in a desert town where they soon discover a plethora of flying saucer buffs, secretive scientists and less-than-friendly extraterrestrials! But after aliens chase and beam them aboard a UFO, clues to the mystery of the alien invaders lead the gang from a top-secret government research base to an intricate network of caves hidden under the town, the race to crack the case redefines the term “far out” in this hilarious space-capade. Dedicated Scooby fans can now rejoice having these two fan favorite features on this new release, both for the first time on Blu-ray™.

Video Quality
Warner Archive brings Scooby-Doo and The Witch’s Ghost and Scooby-Doo and The Alien Invaders to Blu-Ray looking very lovely in their original aspect ratio which is a major win for fans of the iconic pup. Both films do a favorable job of maintaining their original look with a notable amount of detail and clarity to the picture. We do not believe these are fresh masters prepared by Warner Archive, but these remastered sources each stand out on the format with a top-notch encode. There are subtle signs of DNR on the original effort that would indicate the remaster was not handled by the normal Warner Archive team, but it is not a major detriment.
The animation quality from this period of DTV movies is quite incredible with subtle character details that look exceptional in high definition. Black levels hold up very well with no serious instances of crush or noise in sight. This disc allows the original look of the films to thrive in HD. Any instances of minor softness seem to stem back to the animation style, but these allow both films to maintain a sense of authenticity. The textures of all the various background environments appear consistently defined and give the outings a nice sense of depth. The films are replete with bold, vibrant colors and no trace of age-related wear and tear or damage. Warner Archive continues to deliver in the realm of animation.
Audio Quality
The audio quality of the Blu-Ray disc holds up just as well thanks to a pair of stellar DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio tracks that bring each film to life admirably. The environmental elements are a key part of this franchise, and this loss track allows them to achieve a depth that sounds wonderful in the speakers. Any sonic limitations with previous lossy tracks are now an afterthought with this full-bodied soundscape that provides impeccable clarity to the dialogue, sound effects, and music. The sounds of the mysteries fill the room with lush fidelity. This track shows no obvious weaknesses and represents this one well. Optional English SDH subtitles are provided.

Final Thoughts
Scooby-Doo and The Witch’s Ghost and Scooby-Doo and The Alien Invaders are two standout efforts from this era of DTV movies that solidified Scoob and the gang for a new audience. Witch’s Ghost is the more impressive of the two with Tim Curry and the Hex Girls making this an all-timer, but Alien Invaders is a ton of fun with some nice moments for Scooby and Shaggy to have some playful counterparts. The animation looks great and there is a maturity in the crafting of these stories that makes them more widely accessible for all ages. Warner Archive has delivered a Blu-Ray featuring a first-rate A/V presentation and a smattering of special features. This is a major coup for Scooby Doo fans. Highly Recommended
