Those children of the 80’s might remember the classic Jim Henson film Labyrinth which starred David Bowie as the Goblin King and a very young Jennifer Connelly as the female lead. If you were a fan then the recent announcement that the script for a long awaited sequel has been completed. The project will be lead by Evil Dead reboot and Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez. It was during a recent interview with Fandango that he discussed the project:
I was actually having lunch yesterday with Lisa Henson and we reconnected with that project. We’re very excited about it. It is basically a direct continuation of the first movie many years later, and I can’t tell you much more about it… but we have a script, and we’re very excited about it so we’ll see where that goes. Like always, it takes time and effort to put those movies together because they’re larger than life. But that’s one of the projects that I’m very excited about.
Labyrinth remains a cult-classic due to the combining of the music of star David Bowie who played the Goblin King with his usual flamboyance and with the imagination and puppet wizardry of the late Jim Henson.
