A long-haired, bearded man with face scars walks urgently outdoors, with two figures and vehicles visible in the background.

In the far future, humankind has lost its sense of sight; the father of twins who are born with the mythic ability to see must protect his tribe against a threatened queen.

    Video Quality

See: The Complete Series comes to Blu-Ray with a lush 1080p presentation that makes you appreciate that this was not kept to a streaming-only release. The release contains all 24 episodes from the three seasons spread across eight discs, and no instances of compression artifacts crept up during the viewing. Colors from the various distinct environments and outfits are bold as they saturate screen. The series is filled with sumptuous cinematography and textured environments that are presented with the utmost clarity on these discs. Black levels are quite deep and never sacrifice the edges of the objects on screen. From the brighter skies to the prevalence of darker, shadowy spaces, the skin tones and facial details are faithfully rendered in a way that brings the most nuance out of the palette. This is everything you want from a modern series on the format.

    Audio Quality

The Blu-Ray disc comes with a powerful DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that delivers on all fronts. The series starts with a bang and has numerous clashes throughout the run, and each battle is brought to life with a grandiose sonic spectacle. The low end gets a nice workout, and each unique flourish stands apart so it does not become audio soup. There is some welcome ambient activity in the rear channels to make each space feel three-dimensional. The series music brings a key element to the atmosphere that fills up the room on this track. Dialogue largely stays fixed in the front center channels and comes through clearly at all times. The track does a respectable job of making sure neither sound effects nor the score or music ever overshadows any exchanges. This audio experience suits the material perfectly. Optional English SDH subtitles are provided.

    Special Features

There are no special features provided for this release.

    Final Thoughts

See is a pretty solid dystopian drama that uses an obvious premise to build up a fascinating society with characters you love and love to hate. There are some bumps along the way, and the ending did not resolve flawlessly, but we enjoyed getting lost in this world more than expected. The ensemble is very charismatic and quickly gets you invested in the journey. This is more overlooked in terms of the early Apple TV+ slate, but it is worth checking out if you like dystopian tales. Fifth Season has released a Blu-Ray featuring a stunning A/V presentation but no special features. Recommended

See: The Complete Series is currently available to purchase on Blu-Ray or DVD.
