Shane Black’s ‘The Predator’ Cut One Scene For a Very Disturbing Reason

We are a little more than a week away from the premiere of Shane Black’s The Predator, but there seems to have already been some controversy surrounding a certain cast-mate. Steven Wilder Striegel is a friend of Black’s and was cast in a very small scene with Olivia Munn. Twentieth Century Fox then received a letter urgently instructing them to delete his scene, for Striegel is a registered sex offender. Striegel pleaded guilty in 2010 for attempting to lure a 14-year-old into a sexual relationship via online. This deeply disturbing information was brought forth to Fox by Munn, who claims they were not aware of this charge.

“Our studio was not aware of Mr. Striegel’s background when he was hired,” a Fox spokesperson said in a statement to The Times. “We were not aware of his background during the casting process due to legal limitations that impede studios from running background checks on actors.”

Black, though; did know:

“I personally chose to help a friend. I can understand others might disapprove, as his conviction was on a sensitive charge and not to be taken lightly.”

The Predator comes out September 14th and from the trailer, it looks like a great film! Let us know if this information has swayed your thoughts about the movie in any way.
