Sherlock Holmes 3 Brings in Rocketman Director

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”26130″ img_size=”948×435″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The next Sherlock Holmes movie has found its director! Dexter Fletcher, who directed Rocketman; will join Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law for the third installment.

Downey will reprise his role, along with Law in the third movie in this film franchise which started in 2009. The second film came out in 2011, so it has been a while. But, with it seeming that Downey might have departed from his role as Tony Stark, this frees him up to return to Sherlock Holmes. The third film will be called Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and will hit theaters on December 22, 2021.

As for Fletcher, Rocketman did well with $175.2 million in earnings globally. Fletcher had also finished up the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody after the original director, Bryan Singer; was removed from the project. With two musicals under his belt, what does this mean for Sherlock Holmes? Personally, I’d love to see Downey and Law since a duet about Holmes and Dr. Watson.
