Short Film ‘Repressed’ Looks Into The Traumas of The Past

Creators must find ways to express their art in many different ways. Whether they’re in full-feature lengths films, television shows, books, and more. Just because a story is told in a short amount of time, doesn’t mean it doesn’t tell a full story. There are short films that are really good. I suggest short films like The Hostage, starring Tahmoh Penikett. And The Escape, starring Jon Bernthal.

Short Films, Big Stories

Because I like short films, I was happy to review another short movie sent my way. This movie is called Repressed and is directed by Jon Lee Brody.

So, what is Repressed about? We have our main character who is clearly suffering from some sort of past trauma that he is looking to overcome. Having done everything else available to him, the main character decides to partake in an experimental procedure to help him overcome repressed memories. We then see the main character dealing with the horror-driven suspense that is breaking down his childhood memories.

Rating: 4/5

I do believe that Repressed is done well. It’s a short film and seems a bit like a passion project. The acting is good for a piece of art like this and the graphics are done quite well. The ending reminded me of a Black Mirror episode and considering it’s one of the best Black Mirror episodes, I was happy to see the similarities.

If you’re looking to support a smaller project, I would definitely suggest checking out Repressed! In the short amount of time it tells its story, I believe it does so successfully. Please go to the link above, give it a like, and let me know what you think!
