Snowpiercer TV Series to Premier In 2019 According To Steven Ogg

TNT is currently developing a Snowpiercer series based on the 2013 film by Bong Joon-ho and starring Chris Evans. Among the stars included in the upcoming series, The Walking Dead and Westworld alum Steven Ogg was cast as Pike. And according to Ogg, the show will premiere sometime in 2019.

Snowpiercer, based on the movie. It’s a TV show, it’s for TNT, Netflix around the world, June of next year.” Ogg revealed in a sit down at the Salt Lake City’s FanX convention.

2013’s Snowpiercer took place seventeen years after the entire world was engulfed in a severe Ice Age as a result of trying to reverse Global Warming. The surviving humans are all jammed onto a never-ending train ride around the world. Those who were rich enough to buy tickets live in luxury in the front carts, while those who couldn’t afford passage are forced to live in filth, where they are so deeply starved that they resort at some point early on to cannibalism. Chris Evans’s Curtis explains at one point that an act of courage stopped this, but since the series will take place only seven years into the train-ride, perhaps we’ll see more of this horrible struggle.

Ogg’s Pike is a “hardened” criminal, who eventually rises to be one of the leaders of the back cart. I’d love if we could see a younger Curtis or at least a mention!

As someone who really actually enjoyed the movie, I’ll keep you tuned as I hear more.
