Video Quality
Some Like It Rare comes to Blu-Ray in a 1080p presentation that brings the feature to life without a hiccup. The transfer handles every setting with the proper amount of care. The transfer unveils texture within the costumes, bloody makeup effects, and production design that adds complexity to the picture. Skin tones are impeccably detailed and natural all around, including the blood splatter that pops up often as the film ramps up. There is a noble sense of vibrancy throughout with some bold colors in the background. Highlights are handled well with no signs of blooming, and the blacks are deep and do not struggle with any crush or compression artifacts. Brainstorm Media has done a top-tier job with this release.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray disc comes with a steadfast DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track in the original French that deftly captures this story. Dialogue comes through clearly without ever being overwhelmed by competing sounds. The sound design is not overly ambitious, but every element emanates perfectly in the mix. Environmental flourishes widen the soundscape to give the world a bit more dexterity. Music flows through the room with fine fidelity. The soundtrack adds some texture to the low end at various points. The audio presentation is a winner by every metric. The film is presented with forced English subtitles and optional English SDH subtitles.

Final Thoughts
Some Like It Rare is a bloody and humorous satire that explores veganism and its relationship to activism, as well as society’s obsession with true crime and its influence on our relationship to violence. The barbed message hits like a sledgehammer instead of cutting with the precision of a scalpel, but the blunt nature of the messaging works well for a mass audience. The performers sell the exaggerated material with confidence so that the audience is always having a fun time. Despite the murky messaging at times, this one is worth a watch if you like dark comedies. Brainstorm Media has released a Blu-Ray featuring a grand A/V presentation and a smattering of supplements. Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
