According to The Hollywood Reporter, Serkis has met with Sony for the possibility of directing Venom 2.
While Ruben Fleischer directed the first film in 2018, he will not be returning for the Tom Hardy led project. According to sources, he is one of a few filmmakers that Sony is considering. Venom made $865 million at the global box office, so it stands to reason that the studio wants to keep that up with the sequel. Separate from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, Venom is beginning its own universe with the tease of Carnage and the upcoming Morbius movie.
