Sony’s ‘Silver and Black’ Stuck in Development Hell

It appears that the Spider-Man spin off film, Silver and Black, continues to be plagued with development issues. According to The Hollywood Reporter , director Gina Prince-Bythewood is taking on another project which will see her direct the The Old Guard, a comic series from Image.

Gina Prince-Bythewood has said that she is still working the script for Silver and Black and even commented on the script saying:

“With Silver & Black, when you’re doing a film of that magnitude, it’s gotta be right. And if it’s not right, we actually collectively decided to go back to the drawing board and start over. That’s gonna take time. So obviously, I’d love to be shooting right now, but to be shooting something that I know is not as good as it can be, I’m not the type that wants to shoot something you’re rewriting, as you’re shooting. So, we have to get the script right, and I’m okay to wait. I may be shooting something before that, but it really is just get the script right before we go on that journey.”

Sony also does not appear to be in any hurry to get the film going as there have been no casting announcement and the film was removed from its release calendar. Sony currently has Venom set to release this October and they announced Oscar winner Jared Leto ( Suicide Squad, Dallas Buyers Club) would be headlining the film Morbius.
