Sony’s Sinister Six Movie Alive and Waiting for Drew Goddard

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”11862″ img_size=”798×420″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]When first announced that Sony intended to make a standalone Venom movie without the inclusion or even so much of a mention of Spider-Man, we all were scratching our heads wondering how that would even work. But, Venom has been a financial success and has essentially greenlit the studio’s plans to have their “Spider-Man” universe…without Spider-Man.

While Andrew Garfield was a decent Spider-Man, his run never fully reached its potential with the shift into Disney’s Tom Holland’s Spidey. Around the time of the Amazing Spider-Man 2, a Sinister Six movie was in the works. Naturally, we’d all think that with Garfield gone and Sony sending the rights to Peter Parker over to Disney, it’d mean we aren’t getting a Sinister Six movie, right? Not according to Sony’s chief, Amy Pascal. According to Pascal, the movie is still alive and simply waiting for Drew Goddard.

“I’m just waiting for Drew to be ready to direct it,” Pascal told Vanity Fair. “I would do anything with Drew Goddard. I’m just waiting for him to tell me he wants to.”

Goddard currently is attached to a live-action X-Force movie, which would see the return of Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, and Zazie Beetz, all reprising their roles from Deadpool 2. Considering the merger between Fox and Disney, though; an R-Rated movie may be out the window. If this is the case, Goddard’s schedule would be freed up enough to do a Sinister Six movie. We don’t want an X-Force movie not to happen, but we do want Sinister Six. What do you guys think?
