Lakeith Stanfield starred in Sorry to Bother You and had a small role in Jordan Peele’s Get Out. And it seems like the actor is pairing up with Peele once again for the brand new Candyman film. Originally put out in 1992 starring Tony Todd, Peele is producing a reboot and co-writing a script. Nia DaCosta will direct the horror film, as Stanfield stars as Anthony, the film’s main character.

Anthony is described as a “socially pronounced artist” who lives in Chicago while researching the urban legend of Candyman. It’s from this research that bizarre things begin to occur around him and his role is being described as similar to Helen Lyle, who was the main protagonist of the original film.

How do you feel about this casting? Do you hope to see Tony Todd reprise his role?
