Update: Based on some new information we have obtained it looks like filming on the movie is set for mid March 2020. As with all filming dates anything could change so we will continue to monitor the news.
Exclusive: Trey Parker and Matt Stone are bringing their Broadway hit musical, The Book of Mormon, to the big screen. Last week reports surfaced from DiscussingFilm that Trey Parker and Matt Stone were working on a new movie titled, Alma Junction. Our source who works in the theater industry tells us that Alma Junction is just “code” for The Book of Mormon.
Our source also tells us that Vickie Thomas will be casting the film. DiscussingFilm also reported that Scott Rudin is set to produce the film with Pawel Pogorzelski set as cinematographer.
The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy written by Matt Stone, Trey Parker and Robert Lopez. The musical is a smash hit on Broadway, winning several awards including the Tony Awards. With news of the film just coming out last week, hopefully we get more news as the production starts to get ramped up. No further details are available at this time.
