    Mindraker: Background Anger

Mindraker: Background Anger Starring Sean Schemmel, A Gripping Sci-Fi Mystery Podcast, Starting August 24th

The Invasion Is Here: But Don’t Look Up…Look Within.

LOS ANGELES – Fans of cerebral sci-fi thrillers mark your calendars because the “can’t miss” podcast of the year is invading on August 24th. Spiral Opus Audio, founded by Emmy winning director, producer, and animator Roy Burdine, has today announced “Mindraker: Background Anger,” an eight-episode sci-fi mystery podcast starring Sean Schemmel (Dragon Ball Z). The first episode will premiere on August 24th, with subsequent episodes available weekly.

Mankind is under attack, but all the jets, bombs, and bullets on earth are useless against a threat whose inter-dimensional origin transcends the physical world. Alien beings from another plane have invaded our reality through the fabric of the collective unconscious, an invisible sniper’s perch from which they influence their unsuspecting human victims to act on their deepest, darkest desires.

All that stands in the way of these otherworldly trespassers, is one very average and conflicted man named MARU (Schemmel), and his box of divinely gifted powers. Maru is a MINDRAKER, a designation given to psychic assassins by the forces defending mankind in this spiritual war. Betrayed by his girlfriend and fellow Mindraker, Michelle (Whitton Frank), our hero navigates an existential mindscape in search of the forces that have imprisoned her in a lifeless coma.

Mindraker: Background Anger engages with a unique stream of consciousness narrative and a fully immersive soundscape that combine to transport listeners to a fantastic new dimension of surreal mystery that lies just beyond the boundaries of consciousness.

Behind the creation of this compelling audio experience is Roy Burdine, Emmy-winning director, producer, and animator whose talents have contributed to such animated series as “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Ultimate Spider-Man,” “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” “Dreamworks’ The Adventures of Puss In Boots,” “She-Ra and the Princesses Of Power,” “Stillwater”, and many more. Burdine’s countless hours spent at the drawing board have instilled the deep love for audio entertainment that has manifested itself in the Mindraker podcast series.

Elevating the auditory adventure is the talented voice actor Sean Schemmel, who takes on the lead role of Maru in “Mindraker: Background Anger.” With an extensive repertoire in animation and video games, Schemmel is most renowned for his portrayal of GOKU in the iconic “Dragon Ball Z” franchise. His captivating performances have propelled the franchise to mainstream box-office success, including the widely acclaimed 2019 film “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” and the recently released “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.”

    Roy Burdine:

“Mindraker is the intersection of so many of my creative inspirations and personal experiences, not the least of which is the opportunity to create something original with a close friend from the animation trenches who also happens to be a world class voice acting talent.”

    Sean Schemmel:

“I’ve read thousands of scripts in over 25 years as a voice actor, and this one in particular really got my attention possibly more than any other. It’s definitely the most unique project I’ve worked on, and it resonated for me personally on a lot of levels, as I have been on my own psycho-spiritual journey for many decades, and the overall style and vibe of Roy’s masterful word-smithing spoke to me on a deeper, even unconscious level. If you enjoy surrealistic scifi that asks you to ask yourself the deeper questions about morality and the fate humankind itself, then this podcast is for you.”

Mindraker: Background Anger will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all other podcast platforms. Updates for the podcast can be found on its Twitter page here. Circle it, remember it, tuck it away in the depths of your unconscious… but be careful, you never know what’s lurking there.
