… Because Nickelodeon announced that Spongebob Squarepants has been renewed for its thirteenth season!
According to Comicbook.com, the renewal for Season 13 comes after the airing of Spongebob’s Big Birthday Blowout on Friday, July 12th. The hybrid live-action/animated special drew 2.2 million viewers when it aired across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, and Nicktoons, according to Nickelodeon. In the special, Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) played live-action versions of their characters in addition to reprising their animated roles.
Spongebob Squarepants Season 13 will continue to feature voices from the original cast and Vince Waller and Marc Ceccarelli will also both supervise the upcoming season. We are not sure when the 13-episode 13th season will air but an announcement may be made at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 which starts this week.
