A new interactive fan experience arrives inside Spotify ahead of the film’s June 26 release

Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Supergirl on June 26, DC Studios has partnered once again with Spotify to roll out a new in-app scavenger hunt experience alongside curated character playlists. The campaign blends music, storytelling, and interactive discovery to deepen fan engagement ahead of the film’s debut.

The centerpiece of the experience is a platform-wide scavenger hunt that sends fans searching for Krypto across Spotify. The character appears across select DCU-related pages within the app, with each appearance revealing fragments of a hidden code in the form of letters displayed in thought bubbles.

Fans receive in-app clues guiding them to specific destinations, including:

    • Supergirl’s official tracks
    • Superman’s official tracks
    • Supergirl’s theme song
    • Superman’s theme song

Once all letters are collected, users can assemble a final code and enter it in Spotify Search to unlock an exclusive clip from the film.

Character Playlists Expand the Film’s Universe

A woman in a Supergirl costume poses heroically in front of a large Supergirl “S” symbol. Text reads, "Supergirl Official Playlist," with Spotify and DC Studios logos visible.

Alongside the scavenger hunt, Spotify is hosting an official Supergirl playlist hub featuring character-driven music selections. Each playlist is introduced or curated by talent and filmmakers involved in the project, including cast members and director involvement.

Supergirl Playlist — curated by Milly Alcock

In her introduction, Milly Alcock describes Kara as a deeply music-driven character who relies on songs as an emotional anchor throughout her journey. The playlist is structured in a loose chronological flow, reflecting Supergirl’s emotional evolution across the film.

The Supergirl playlist blends nostalgic indie energy, pop-punk attitude, and euphoric pop influences. Featured tracks include:

    • “HOT TO GO!” — Chappell Roan
    • “Just a Girl” — No Doubt
    • “Sk8er Boi” — Avril Lavigne
    • “Security” — Amyl and the Sniffers
    • “End of Beginning” — Djo

Ruthye Playlist — introduced by Eve Ridley

The Ruthye playlist takes a darker emotional direction, built around haunting folk, gothic rock, and cinematic pop.
It reflects the character’s emotional depth and inner conflict.

    Featured tracks include:

    • “Take Me to Church” — Hozier
    • “Hide and Seek” — Imogen Heap
    • “Me and the Devil” — Soap&Skin
    • “The Funeral” — Band of Horses
    • “Abracadabra” — Lady Gaga

Lobo Playlist — curated by James Gunn

The Lobo playlist embraces chaos with a mix of hardcore punk, metal, and hard rock. It is designed to reflect the character’s aggressive energy and rebellious tone.

    Featured tracks include:

    • “Waiting Room” — Fugazi
    • “Mother” — Danzig
    • “I’m Scum” — IDLES
    • “Square Hammer” — Ghost
    • “Brutal Planet” — Alice Cooper

    Music as Narrative Storytelling

The Supergirl playlist is designed to mirror Kara’s emotional arc, using music as both a storytelling device and an internal reflection of her journey. According to Alcock, the selection process was built around how Supergirl processes emotion through music, with each track contributing to a broader emotional timeline.

By combining interactive scavenger hunt mechanics with curated character playlists, the campaign extends the film’s narrative beyond the screen into a participatory digital experience.

Supergirl arrives in theaters on June 26.
