During the SDCC panel, actor David Ajala will join season three as Cleveland “Book” Booker. Previously, Ajala had played Manchester Black on The CW’s Supergirl. Now he will be Booker, who is described as having a “natural charisma and devil-may-care attitude that tends to get him into trouble as often as it gets him out.”
Previously it was announced that Michelle Paradise would serve as the co-showrunner for season three.
Showrunner Alex Kurtzman described:
“Michelle joined us midway through season two and energized the room with her ferocious knowledge of Trek. Her grasp of character and story detail, her drive and her focus have already become essential in ensuring the Treklegacy, and her fresh perspective always keeps us looking forward. I’m proud to say Michelle and I are officially running Star Trek: Discovery together.”
