Stephen Amell’s Facial Hair; A Green Arrow Saga

Oliver Queen has very iconic facial hair in the comics, but it’s something we’ve yet to see in CW’s Arrow. Stephen Amell, the man behind the green suit; hinted in previous years that he’d never don the familiar goatee that fans are used to. After all, the Arrow has a vaguely Robin Hood-esque feel in the comics and the CW’s version of the crime fighter is a more modern take. We were able to get a ‘what if’ in an alternate reality in an episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but that would most likely be it, or at least it seemed.

In a recent social media post, Amell revealed some facial hair that looks vaguely akin to an iconic Green Arrow beard. This, along with comments in 2017 makes it seem like we may actually get a more comic book authentic look.

“I promise you, before the series – not season, series – ends, we will have at least one shot with the iconic goatee.”

The cause for the almost seemingly unruly facial hair could hint to the upcoming season, where Oliver is not in prison due to coming forward with his secret identity. According to Amell himself, Oliver will be in prison for more than one episode and perhaps keeping his beard trimmed isn’t priority number one for the now incarcerated billionaire. Arrow returns to CW on October 15th, the episode is titled “Inmate 4587”.
