Suicide Squad 2′ First Draft Is Finished According To Writer

For the small majority of us who really enjoyed the first Suicide Squad, you’ll be happy to know that according to writer Todd Stashwick, the script for the sequel has officially been completed. The movie centering around the Worst Heroes Ever wasn’t received too well by critics, but I still stand by my opinion that it was a solid film. Albeit some things they could improve on, but all in all, stronger than some films in the DCEU. No matter how you feel about it and no matter how delayed it is, it’s still happening according to Stashwick.

“We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it.”

Stashwick states that the intention of the second film is to deepen the characters. While many praised Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn and Will Smith as Deadshot, a lot of criticism stems from Jared Leto’s Joker and Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress. Many believed it should have been the Joker who was the main villain of the movie. Even David Ayer had expressed that that is the direction they should have went in.

Rick Flagg’s actor Joel Kinnaman had stated that Suicide Squad 2 was taking its time to get everything right:

“I don’t know. I just know they are working intensely on it. I know it’s a big priority at Warner Bros., but it’s an equally big priority to get it right. We all felt that we had lightning in a bottle, in a way, and it partly got away from us, a little bit. It’s really important to harness everything that was great about it, and then fix what didn’t really work. So, I know they’re working on it, and we’ll see.”

While we do have Wonder Woman 1984, Aquaman, and Shazam coming out soon, we also have Henry Cavill potentially not returning as Superman, nor Ben Affleck as Batman. Maybe it’s time for Warner Bros to return back to its merry band of misfits.
