Suicide Squad’s David Ayer Confirms A Fan’s Theory on the Joker’s Tattoos

Jared Leto’s Joker drew controversy long before 2016’s Suicide Squad hit the big screen. It all started with the image of the Joker decorated with tattoos. This seemed to be something that bothered a lot of people, since they weren’t use to a Joker with ink. People still talk about Suicide Squad, even four years later. Again, especially the tattoos. Director David Ayer shed further light onto the mythos of the ink, specifically the “Damaged” tattoo on Joker’s forehead.

Ayer engaged fans about the ink – one who made a joke, while another actually posted a theory to the “Damaged” tattoo:

“I think the damaged tattoo is actually pretty ingenious, but only for those who understand. Joker got the tattoo because batman damaged his smile in a failed attempt at revenge for killing Robin. All with the intent to antagonize and infuriate Batman simply by seeing his face.”

Ayer responded:

“Exactly.”

What do you think about Joker’s ink from Suicide Squad?
