Superman is Important to WB Says Geoff Johns

Man of Steel came out over 5 years ago and fans are still wondering when they will get a sequel. You could make a case that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a sequel since it does pick up directly after the events of Man of Steel, but it’s just not the same. BvS was just as much a Batman movie as it was a Superman film and fans want a traditional sequel to the film. Henry Cavill has gone on the record to say what story he would like to adapt and has even hinted at who he would like to direct. We last saw Superman in Justice League but his return from the dead was marred by a horrible CGI face.

While we are not sure when we will get the sequel to Man of Steel, we do know that Superman is very important to Warner Bros according to Geoff Johns. Geoff spoke with Collider regarding the sequel and had this to say

“Look, working with [DC Films president] Walter Hamada and [Warner Bros. President and CCO] Toby [Emmerich] over there at [Warner Bros.], they feel the same way. Everyone loves Superman and knows how important Superman is,”

“It’s not in my wheelhouse now to really say anything beyond that but… I got into this business because of Superman: The Movie, because Dick Donner directed what I think is still an amazing superhero film but an amazing film — it’s an American film, it’s a classic.”

Henry is currently promoting his latest release, Mission: Impossible – Fallout but also continues to discuss Superman when asked and has said he would love to continue to play the character.

Looks like the ball is in Warner Bros. court as they decide what to do next. Maybe we will hear something soon! How do you feel about what Geoff had to say about Superman and his importance to Warner Bros.? Leave a comment below and as always drop us a follow on Twitter @GeekVibesNation.
