After years of facing supervillains, monsters and alien invaders, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent and comic books’ famed journalist Lois Lane come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever — dealing with being working parents in today’s society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois worry about whether their sons, Jonathan and Jordan, could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang and her Fire Chief husband, Kyle Cushing. The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah. Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, Gen. Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice.

Video Quality
Superman & Lois: The Complete Third Season arrives on Blu-Ray with an impressive AVC encoded 1080p transfer in its original broadcast ratio of 2.20:1. The show continues to feature rich cinematography which gives the show a cinematic quality that shines on the format. The color palette runs on the cooler side with a focus on blues and greens. The town does have a world of beautiful colors at the ready that shine off the screen in certain backgrounds and some costumes.
The special effects deployed throughout are what we hope from network television and are deftly rendered on disc. There are no serious instances of aliasing or compression artifacts detectable in this transfer. Black levels do not come up short as you get a welcome amount of detail in shadows. Skin tones appear natural across the entire cast throughout the season. The levels of detail on display are unreal to witness, as all of the subtle details in the production design are crisp and clear. The Blu-Ray is a must for those who want to watch this in the best presentation possible.
Audio Quality
This Blu-Ray comes with a heroic DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that delivers on all fronts. Dialogue always comes through faithfully without being overshadowed by the score or the mighty sound effects. Action sequences and more traditional kinetic moments are given the necessary force in the mix with a great showing in the low end. The accuracy of the track never misses the mark, and the mix knows how to use panning techniques to great effect. Ambient sounds are also an important part of the rear activity. The score establishes a mood for the story, and it enhances the thematic elements quite a bit. The audio presentation is in great shape.

Final Thoughts
Superman & Lois did not slip too much in its sophomore outing, but one could say that the third season is closer to what we would call a return to form. There are still too many characters to give them all fully fleshed-out arcs, and some annoyances persist thanks to the development of specific characters, but this season feels much more thoughtful. Tyler Hoechlin continues to impress as Superman, and we love his dynamic with Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois. With the next season announced as the final one, we can only hope this series holds on to the honor of being one of the best CW superhero outings. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray featuring a fantastic A/V presentation but no special features. If you love the show, add it to your collection to show support for future Blu-Ray releases.
