The last time we saw Henry Cavill as Superman was in Justice League, which was two years ago, and it was not on a good note thanks to all the drama that was going on with the Justice League. Then came reports that Henry was done and that WB has closed the door on him coming back. Cavill though has always maintained he wants to play Superman and that the door wasn’t closed.
With Henry showing up at Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel stream, many wondered if Henry was back. Now we are hearing news that Henry Cavill is indeed on talks to return as the Man of Steel.
An exclusive by Deadline, and this is what they had to say,
While there is not a Man of Steel sequel in the works, we’re hearing that Henry Cavill is in talks to reprise his role as Superman in the Warner Bros. DC Universe.
We hear Cavill could come back in a couple of different ways, not a standalone film, but there are plans to put him back in the big red cape again sources with knowledge tell us.
Warner Bros. is not developing a Man of Steel sequel, and Wonder Woman 1984, Suicide Squad are in the can, and Superman isn’t expected to make a cameo in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Other projects where Cavill could make a cameo are Shazam 2, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam or Aquaman 2, which are the next productions to be prepped once COVID-19 safety restrictions lift.
The big thing that I am questioning about is Deadline’s source saying that no sequel to Man of Steel is in the works. Hard to believe Henry would sign on for multiple DC films and there not be a sequel in the mix.
