If you are still recovering from last night’s episode of Law & Order: SVU then you aren’t alone. While Sonny Carisi and Amanda Rollins have always had a slight bickering relationship, it came to a real head last night. Special Victims Unit may have never gotten Benson and Stabler together after twelve seasons, but can we just have Rollins and Carisi admit their feelings for each other already? They pretty much did in ‘At Midnight in Manhattan’.
#Rollisi has been something fans have wanted for years. Not only do the two have a great dynamic relationship together, Carisi is frequently shown to be good with Amanda’s kids, and there was that one time it looked like Carisi tried to make a move back in season nineteen. While their quarrel in last night’s episode wasn’t a romantic one, it still involved hurt feelings. Carisi has been a detective since season sixteen and while it seemed like the show wasn’t going to ever do anything with his law degree, season 21 introduced ADA Carisi. No longer a detective, this also means no longer Amanda’s partner.
While, Rollins is not happy about.
“I would be fine if you were right here beside me! You said you’re my partner. You walked out on me.”

Commenting on that intense line, Kelli Giddish spoke on the SVU podcast:
“[Having added that line] – Because I think—I was like there’s something missing here. Like, she says something, but she doesn’t go all the way. I feel like you guys want her to go all the way here. She would be fine in this trench that they’re in…if you have somebody that you trust, that is your friend and your partner beside you, then you’re OK. You’re OK going through it. When you’re alone, you doubt yourself and you doubt your capabilities. When you have your wingman, your partner, you’re like come hell or high water, you’re going to figure this out.”
When asked if the intensely charged exchange was motivated due to their relationship being more than just work partners, Giddish laughed:
“I don’t know. I think it has been more than work at times with them. He comes over, gets along great with kids…it’s easy. It’s a really easy relationship because they understand each other.”
What do you make of that intense scene and do you want Rollisi to be a thing?
