[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”9818″ img_size=”960×480″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Fresh new casting for DC Universe’s Swamp Thing!

Andy Bean (Power and IT: Chapter Two) has been cast as Alec Holland and Derek Myers (Friday the 13th) has been brought on to play the Swamp Thing.

Holland is Swamp Thing’s alter-ego, so the two will share lead duties, which means we’ll be seeing a lot of flashbacks detailing Holland’s life before the accident that changes his life forever. Now, Mears’ involvement was rumored months ago, but it is finally confirmed by Warner Bros., which gives the upcoming series new exciting life.

Added by Warner Bros., are some character descriptions, such as Holland’s:

“Passionate biologist Alec Holland is caught in the crosshairs of a small town nightmare when he discovers a bizarre local illness may be connected to his work in the swamp. Holland’s discovery leads him into conflict with dark forces, from which he emerges as the elemental hero known as Swamp Thing.”

Swamp Thing is then described as:

“Emerging from the swamp with a monstrous physique and strange new powers over plant life, the man who was once Alec Holland struggles to hold onto his humanity. When dark forces converge on the town of Marais, Swamp Thing must embrace what he has become in order to defend the town as well as the natural world at large.”

Aquaman’s director James Wan, who is a master of horror; is producing the series and is very excited to be on board:

“Been developing this ‘vegetarian hero’ for a while now 🙂 With a great team,” Wan wrote on Twitter. “Happy to finally share. Expect — mood, mystery, gothic romance, and swamp monsters!”
