Video Quality
Sympathy For The Devil comes to 4K UHD Blu-Ray with a 2160p presentation that capably captures the look and feel of the movie. Although this is a 4K UHD disc, this presentation does not implement HDR which may cause the uptick in quality to seem less substantial at first glance. Even with an SDR presentation in 2160p, you get some notable enhancement in the color gamut and fine detail. This presentation digs deep to provide detailed, natural skin tones with a substantial amount of detail in the facial features, production design, and clothing. The color palette is finely saturated with strong contrast and no instances of bleeding. Black levels hold up pretty evenly throughout with no evidence of crush. The film looks amazing on 4K UHD Blu-Ray and represents the film as it was intended to be seen.
Audio Quality
The film comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track that is quite nuanced and pleasing from beginning to end. Environmental effects are a notable part of the film, and this track brings these elements to life quite capably. The use of the rear channels to create a fully immersive world works quite well. Dialogue is balanced capably within this track and is never overshadowed by sound effects or music. The roar of the car and other kinetic activity show off in a way that should engage your speakers quite effectively. Activity in the low end delivers great texture during much of the presentation. RLJE Films has delivered a fierce track for a film that excels in the sound mixing department. There are optional English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles provided.
Special Features
This combo pack arrives in SteelBook packaging with a matte finish that features the two main characters on the front cover and an intentionally blurry photo with a tagline on the back. The interior is a still photo of Nic Cage’s character causing chaos. Photos of this can be found at the end of the review.
- Interview with Nicolas Cage: A minute-long interview with Cage who discusses the nature of his character.
- Interview with Joel Kinnaman: A minute-long piece with Kinnaman who discusses the basic dynamics of the film and working with Cage.
- Interview with Director Yuval Adler: A minute-long conversation with the director who discusses what drew him to the story and the spry production of the feature.

Final Thoughts
Sympathy For The Devil keeps you glued to the screen thanks to its intense lead performance from Nicolas Cage. Still, the overall narrative feels unfocused and even illogical at various points throughout the journey. It is enough to deliver a thrilling bit of fun, but not consistent enough to make this a new classic. RLJE Films has provided a 4K UHD Blu-Ray that sports a great A/V presentation and a few brief special features housed in nice SteelBook packaging. If you are a fan of unhinged Nicolas Cage, you will not be disappointed by what he delivers in this latest outing. Recommended
Sympathy For The Devil is currently available to purchase on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital. The film will be available on 4K UHD Blu-Ray + Blu-Ray SteelBook on November 14, 2023.
