Madame Web is shaping up to either be one of the best Spider-Man spin-off movies ever or a total bomb like Morbius was. Sony is determined to get their own “universe” off the ground with and so far have found success with Venom but as mentioned earlier, Morbius crashed and burned hard. But with what we know so far about Madame Web, the concept seems pretty good on paper.
The plot of the movie reportedly revolves around Madame Web (Dakota Johnson), Julia Carpenter (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor) and Anya Corazon (Isabela Merced) trying to protect Mary Parker (Emma Roberts) and her unborn child, Peter Parker. Adam Scott, who is playing Ben Parker, is also trying to protect Mary.
They will be trying to protect him from the villain of the movie who is played by Tahar Rahim. According to Daniel Richtman, Tahar is playing Ezekiel Sims.
In the comics Ezekiel Sims had nearly the same power set as Spider-Man including the ability to wall-crawl and have spider-sense. Sims gained his powers from a ritual and used his powers to create a powerful business empire. He would befriend Spider-Man only to turn on him later.
A new set image reveals Tahar in a fight with Madame Web and her allies. Tahar is wearing a Spider-Man/Venom like outfit with no mask on. You can see the images here.
There are some other rumors going around that Tahar could be playing Kaine Parker because of the design of the suit. Nothing has been confirmed but with Richtman saying Tahar is playing Sims then the odds are more in favor of that being accurate.
More details for Madame Web hopefully will be confirmed soon. The movie is set to arrive in theaters on February 16, 2024.
