Taking A Look Back At The New Orleans Saints Performance This Season

Source

While the New Orleans Saints season may be over, there is still plenty of work to do. The saints finished the 21/22 season with a 9-8 record, putting them just over the .500% mark. Looking back on their record for the season, they were 6-3 when playing away and 3-5 when playing at home. All hope is not lost though as the Saints managed to beat both the Packers and Brady and the Bucs. This is quite impressive as both of those teams finished tied atop the NFC charts with 13-4 records. While there is plenty of work to be done, one question remains. Will Sean Payton coach the New Orleans Saints next season? At this moment in time, no one knows as he has turned his phone off while enjoying a well-deserved vacation.

Looking Forward.

Looking forward to next season and the Saints schedule isn’t looking too bad to start with. In their first 5 weeks, they face off against the Falcons twice. The Falcons finished the current season 7-10 so as far as odds are concerned, they are definitely in favor of the Saints. While betting lines aren’t yet open for the next season, we would expect to see them open up not long after the Super Bowl has been played. Based on their standings after last season, expect there to be some betting odds that offer good returns if you think the Saints will pull off an upset or two in the upcoming season.

Betting on the Saints in Lousiana.

While betting is becoming more and more popular in the US, especially on sportsbooks apps, it is important to always remain careful. Those in Louisiana looking to place some bets should know that BetMGM Louisiana sportsbook app has lines all season long so you can root for this Louisiana team. Betting on your favorite teams has never been easier than it currently is. I mean, we all like to try our luck, and when there is a chance of winning some money that makes it all the better when your team gets the win.

Staying safe while betting.

While legal and safe betting apps are popping up more and more, it is also a good time to remember to be vigilant. While a lot of sportsbook apps offer sign-on bonuses, you can’t just sign up on any site you come across. Sports Betting apps are currently legal in multiple states, including Louisiana but you need to make sure you are using a trusted app or site. Taking five minutes to search a site’s legitimacy is well worth it and while doing so, you can also see what sites or apps are offering the best new sign-on bonuses.  Staying safe should be your number one priority and if you feel yourself getting addicted to sports betting, or feel it is taking too much time from you, please do seek professional help.

Saints 21/22 season recap.

As mentioned, the Saints finished with a 9-8 record which saw them sneak past that almighty .500% mark! The Saints definitely had a challenging season but there are also a lot of positives that can be taken from it. They beat some of the better teams in the NFC and somehow they managed to have a better record on the road than they did at home. If you look back at their first game, they absolutely walked all over the Packers and started the season with a 38-3 win! Unfortunately, this was then followed up by a 26-7 loss to the Panthers.

Going into week 9, the Saints were sitting with a respectable 5-2 record, but this would be the start of their downfall. After their 27-25 loss to the Falcons, the Saints would go on to also lose their next 4 games and after losing 5 in a row, leaving them with a 5-7 record. During their five-game slump, most of the games were fairly close and there was only one blow where they lost 31-6 to the Bills. It was a real shame as, after their losing streak, the Saints managed to win four of their last five games, ending the season with that 9-8 record that we saw. The Saints five-game losing streak was the longest since Sean Payton took over. While Payton has had four-game losing streaks, this was the first time in 235 games that he lost five in a row!

Can the Saints turn it around for next season?

Yes, of course, they can! Other than their five-game losing streak, the Saints actually looked really good this past season, even beating some of the top teams out there. However, at this very moment in time, they will need to put their focus on Sean Payton and whether or not he is going to return. Speculation around the league says he may take a year off to regroup after what has been one of his hardest coaching seasons at the Saints. At this point, the Saints just need to know what he is going to do so they can start looking to move forward.

Payton has done a good job with the Saints and it will be interesting to see if he sticks around. Looking back at the past five years, 2021 saw the saints come 2nd in the NFC south and before that, they had been 1st in the NFC South for four years, a feat that is not to be forgotten. Over the past 16-years, Payton has had more seasons over the .500% mark than not, and hopefully, he won’t let one rather hard season stand in his way of showcasing what the Saints are capable of. If one thing is for sure, that is that Saints fans will be waiting eagerly to hear one way or another what it is going to do for the season ahead! What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you want to see him stay or go?
