Trekkies everywhere rejoice! Not only will there be a new Star Trek film in the near future, but it will be like none before. In the captain’s chair will be none other than the king of cult films, QT. Quentin Tarantino’s new frontier is an R-rated Star Trek film, and the R-rating is a must.

According to Tarantino’s interview with Empire, he confirms he is eyeing the director’s chair and there are already writers working on the script. It will also be full of what some deem as bad language, but you probably already guessed that. Tarantino tells them:

    “It’s an R-rated movie, if I do it, it’ll be R-rated”

    He adds:

“There’s a script that exists for it now. I need to weigh in on it, but I haven’t been able to do that yet.”

At this time, his focus has been on the release of his upcoming and ninth film, ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood‘ which has a release date of July 26. Once he is able to focus on Star Trek, it could be a sci-fi film for the ages. As long as no one leaks a script and making him shelf the project, it’s happened before. Consequently, I have no doubt he will set a course for cinema gold.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
