Thanos, The Mad Titan: Do you honestly believe he’ll be snapped away and not return to the MCU? This iconic character is in no way not continuous, he said it himself, “I’m inevitable”.
Thanos is a genius level villain, so sure of himself and self-aware, that it wouldn’t surprise me that he’s not without a contingency in case plans do not go quite 100%. The comic book version of Thanos has had many returns and has proven vigilant time after time. In recent issues, he’s even transferred his consciousness upon his death. This is Thanos we’re talking about and he’s more than just a Jason, Freddy Kruger, or Michael Meyers. Although, they are just horror icons, they are more like a bad penny that turns up. With Thanos, however, his techniques are methodical and I would not put it past him to have been ready in the case of what happened to him in Avengers: Endgame.
He’s one of very few people that can wield the Infinity Stones and not only that, he did an amazing move against Captain Marvel by snatching the Power Stone off the gauntlet and pulverizing her. A genius-level move.
You can always tell Thanos’ mental wheels are turning. Always thinking ahead. He plays the long game with a planning process that covers most all of his bases. I’m currently reading Thanos: Titan Consumed wherein’ we see the origin of Thanos. He’s very discerning and I really think there’s not a snowball’s chance he’s NOT going to return to the MCU. There had been a ton of theories thinking this very thing.
In an interview with Endgame screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely over at Fandango gave us an idea of who was truly dead, but Slash Film suggested those that were snapped away were not dead, just erased. That there is a “fine line to be drawn between death and disintegration”. I couldn’t help but wonder how Thanos could sit there so non-nonchalantly as he turned to dust. Maybe he knew as well that it’s a process that could be undone. Don’t forget the idea of multi-verses have also been introduced and with many cosmic beings out there with the ability to manipulate time and space, it’s no wonder Thanos could undo things and decide to accomplish his objectives from another angle. Also, Thanos got access to the Pym Particles in order to travel to 2012 to take on the Avengers in a field of battle. Some fan speculation were unclear about this premise, but old Nebula had access to it and gave it to Thanos. Obviously he’s likely to have reversed engineered it.
That said, do you honestly think Thanos will come back yet again into the MCU? Of course, I think it’ll be awhile before we see that teased evil grin of his as seeing at the end of the first Avengers movie.
