The time for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale has come! Or should we say, Captain America and The Winter Soldier?
Spoilers
I don’t want to reveal too many spoilers, but how can I not talk about Sam’s amazing-looking new suit? After six episodes, we finally have Sam embracing the mantle that Steve Rogers bestowed upon him. And he’s doing a great job. Not only in his fighting, his movement with the shield, but also his emotional gestures. There’s a monologue moment in here that Steve would be proud of. We’ve been shown time and time again why Sam deserved to be Cap and now, the whole world sees it as well.
Epic Fight Scenes
The finale featured some epic, bare-knuckle fighting that I wanted from this show. There were incredible hand-to-hand combat scenes that really showed the qualify of the choreography, as well as the actors and stunt actors who were doing them. Everything was coordinated flawlessly to deliver clean, yet brutal scenes. My absolute favorite fight was between Sam and Batroc – really well-done and it flowed perfectly.
Bucky Has Come Full Circle
Sam is always solid, but I have to admit that Bucky’s full-circle story in this final episode really touched me. Bucky’s story in the MCU has been in constant development, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a welcomed next step in recovery, as opposed to the regression I feared we’d see from him. From his fight scenes, his support of Sam, and the final few scenes in the episode, Bucky’s performance was a standout for me in this finale and the season.
Sam Finally Taking His Rightful Place
As I mentioned before, Sam’s speech at the end of this episode was powerful. It was something that we needed to see. Not only for Sam to make his statement as the new Captain America, but for him to have a moment where he was finally stepping out of the “sidekick” place and into the spotlight. To be bold and firm, as opposed to reserved. Sam had a very impactful moment with Karli and his thoughts on what the Flag Smashers were doing were valid. And it’s good to see that someone listened. However, while this scene may be the biggest one for some, mine came from Sam’s moment with Isaiah.
I wanna talk about how great Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie were in that finale but they might have both been overshadowed by the acting Carl Lumbly did. Damn. So emotional #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier

Carl Lumbly delivered such a moving performance in only a few minutes that it overshadowed both Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. This isn’t to say that Mackie and Stan didn’t do a great job in their respective roles. They’ve gone through a tremendous development in only six episodes and the journey was much needed, as their movie roles did not allow for the growth we saw here. Episode six will make you cheer, feel inspired, and cry. It was everything an MCU movie needed to be, while also benefiting from a TV show format.
Final Thoughts
Before I wrap everything up, I have to say in regards to Sharon Carter – told you so!! Sorry, but I am gleaming from the reveal with Sharon and as an Emily VanCamp stan, it was the best decision for the writers to make. I cannot wait to see more of Sharon, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Val, and I even am interested in John Walker’s story. His moments in this episode were some of the best of his in the series – once he stopped being something we didn’t want him to be, he was free to stand on his own.
Rating: 4.9/5
Now that the show has ended, I’m really sad that we won’t get another episode next week. I don’t know where we will see these characters again, but I certainly hope it’s soon. What’d you think of the finale for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier?
