Hong Kong’s toughest team of fearless lady cops are back on the beat! These female furies are forced to take on both their male counterparts in a battle of the sexes and a team of foreign mercenaries. Action legend Jackie Chan’s lethal ladies include Shaw Brothers icon Wai Yin-hung (‘My Young Auntie’), Sibelle Hu (‘Fong Sai Yuk’) and the bodacious Amy Yip (‘Robotrix’). The film’s stunning action scenes are again delivered by the Jackie Chan stunt team, who also co-star in the film. ‘The Inspector Wears Skirts 2’ lays down its own brand of law with a madcap action comedy blend of the mirthful and the martial!

Video Quality
The Inspector Wears Skirts 2 arrives on Blu-Ray via 88 Films with a new 1080p master in its original aspect ratio derived from a 2K restoration of the Original Camera Negative. Like the first film, this transfer seems to be in nice shape when it comes to wear and tear, only revealing fleeting specks at worst. The presentation sidesteps most instances of compression artifacts, banding, and other digital anomalies. Some moments appear to be slightly soft, but this appears to be tied to the quality of the source elements and not a fault with the transfer.
Some fleeting signs of age remain, but the source proves to be in solid shape and has been restored with a careful hand. Outside of the occasional variance, this release is pretty fetching as it avoids the most common anomalies. The transfer preserves its natural look throughout without digital tinkering obliterating detail. The grain resolves well without any notable signs of spiking or clumping. The transfer impresses when it comes to color saturation in the locales, clothing, and production design. The presentation shows off with fine detail as you notice subtle facets of the costumes and backgrounds without issue. 88 Films has delivered a first-rate presentation for audiences.
Audio Quality
This Blu-Ray presents the film with an LPCM 2.0 dual mono track in the original Cantonese which presents everything well. There is also an English dub provided in LPCM 2.0 audio that gets the job done for those who desire it, but we always recommend sticking with the original language. There are no egregious instances of damage or audio dropouts, even if there are subtle signs of age at points. Dialogue can sound a bit indistinct in a few scenes, but primarily it is crisp and easy to follow. The music does a fine job of settling the airy tone of the film, and it comes through with a nice fidelity. The film blooms when it comes to hand-to-hand combat and other notable set pieces, but it also knows how to handle the more prevalent scenes of dialogue. 88 Films has provided an audio track that holds up great. This release does have optional English and English SDH subtitles provided.

Final Thoughts
The Inspector Wears Skirts 2 leans more into the comedy in this outing, which was one of the weaker aspects of the initial installment. Some comedic moments play well, but there is just as much humor that falls flat due to the dated gender politics and casual misogyny. We appreciate the chance for these women to kick butt, but the film feels a bit afraid to let these ladies loose this time out, choosing unsteady to make the men equal counterparts in the action. There is still plenty of fun to be had with unbelievable stunts, but we would rather these ladies not be subjected to so much with the men. 88 Films has released a Blu-Ray featuring a great A/V presentation and a rich assortment of supplements. If you enjoyed the first film, this will probably work for you just as well. Recommended
