The Inspector Wears Skirts 3 – Inspector Kan (Shui-Fan Fung), now married to Madame Wu (Sibelle Hu), has been instructed to train the Banshee Squad Members after Madame Wu goes into semi-retirement. For their next mission, the Squad was assigned to go undercover into a Casino Ship to nab a group of thieves responsible for stolen law enforcement and military weapons.
The Inspector Wears Skirts 4 – To save the Hong Kong Police Force’s Banshee Squad from becoming defunct, the struggling new squad members seek the help of former officers Amy (Sandra Ng Kwan Yue), now a divorced mom with a young kid, and May (Kara Hui), now partially mentally-unstable, to help them with their training regiment, lead by Madame Yang (Cynthia Khan). Their police skills are put to the test when they are ordered to nab a band of brutal thugs in the city.

Video Quality
The Inspector Wears Skirts 3 & 4 arrive on Blu-Ray individually via 88 Films with a new 1080p master in its original aspect ratio derived from a 2K restoration of the Original Camera Negative. Each of these films has a very similar level of visual quality, and they will be discussed as a pair with any differences noted. Like the previous two films, these transfers look quite nice and do not showcase any unflattering visual anomalies such as damage or digital smoothing. You also will not spot any compression artifacts, banding, or other digital anomalies. Some moments appear to be slightly soft, but this is most apparent in The Inspector Wears Skirts 4 when we are flashing to the lives of legacy characters which stands out as a creative choice.
The transfer retains its natural look with film grain resolving well without any notable signs of swarming, spiking, or clumping. This allows a great deal of fine detail to come through in the production design. This also extends to subtle facets of the costumes and backgrounds. The transfer impresses when it comes to color saturation in the locales, clothing, and production design. Some flashes of age remain, but the source proves to be in robust shape and has been restored with the utmost care. You could not ask for much more from 88 Films after this worthwhile release.
Audio Quality
These Blu-Ray discs present the films with an LPCM 2.0 dual mono track in the original Cantonese which ideally realizes everything. There is also an English dub provided for The Inspector Wears Skirts 4 in LPCM 2.0 audio that gets the job done for those who desire it, but we always recommend sticking with the original language. The film is most engaging when it comes to hand-to-hand combat and other impactful set pieces, yet it also has a handle on the scenes of dialogue.
Dialogue has been post-looped due to the performers often speaking in languages different from their characters, but it has been executed well with a clear rendering. The music does a fine job of settling the comedic tone of the film, and it comes through with an agreeable fidelity. There are no serious instances of damage or audio dropouts, even if there are subtle signs of age at points. 88 Films has provided an audio track that does everything it needs to do. Optional English subtitles are provided.

Final Thoughts
The Inspector Wears Skirts 3 & 4 closes out the series in a fully comedic place that rivals the zaniness of a Zucker Brothers movie. We still have similar problems with the series as we did with earlier installments, but fully embracing the series as a comedy allows you to contextualize the terrible gender politics a bit more easily. The films get so absurd that you just find yourself going along for the ride, and that ride ends up being fun thanks to the ridiculous action set pieces. It is a product of the culture and this time period, but you can still enjoy what it does right. 88 Films has released two individual Blu-Ray discs featuring a commendable A/V presentation and a small assortment of supplements. These final two installments are quite different from where we started, but they are good, silly fun. Recommended
The Inspector Wears Skirts 3 & 4 are currently available to purchase individually on Blu-Ray.

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
