For over a year, a series of bold daylight bank robberies and armored car heists leaves law enforcement baffled and the public panicked throughout the Pacific Northwest. As the attacks become increasingly violent, FBI agent Terry Husk (Jude Law) becomes convinced that the robberies are the work of domestic terrorists that plan to use the loot to finance an armed uprising against the U.S. government.
Based on a true story, The Order follows Husk and his team into the tangled world of white supremacists as they try to head off a violent uprising that could shatter the nation. As the militia builds a war chest of over $4 million, Husk pursues the malevolent racist Bob Mathews (Nicholas Hoult) to a final bloody standoff that will go down in U.S. history.

Video Quality
The Order arrives on Blu-Ray with a stellar 1080p presentation in its original 2.39:1 aspect ratio that looks very nice in high definition. The clarity throughout is consistent with unbelievable textures in the throwback production design and clothing coming through perfectly. Black levels showcase a strong amount of depth and do not fall victim to exceptional digital noise or banding outside of intermittent shadowy moments. Color saturation is faithfully executed with the reserved color palette presenting moments exactly as intended. Skin tones are natural with some exposed skin showing off blood, bruises, and scars as the narrative develops. Vertical Entertainment has delivered a pleasing HD presentation here.
Audio Quality
The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track brings this story to your living room with great complexity and immediacy. This narrative delivers hard-hitting moments fairly consistently with the finale demanding the most from the speakers. The track offers a substantial low-end response that sells the tension of the narrative. This story allows for moments of quiet that emphasize the sounds of the locations around the characters, which the soundscape disseminates from numerous directions. Dialogue emanates crisp and clear as it balances well with the music and the sound effects. This track delivers in all respects. Optional English SDH subtitles are provided.

Final Thoughts
The Order is a terrific crime tale that shows the cat-and-mouse thrills that come with the law attempting to suppress a burgeoning hate group. Justin Kurzel directs this with the assured skill that his experience lends him with no moments feeling unmotivated or extraneous. The ensemble is in top form with Jude Law getting a role worthy of his talent and Nicholas Hoult revealing yet another layer of his range. This is one of the overlooked gems of 2024. Vertical Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray with a very strong A/V presentation but no supplemental features. If you are a fan of crime dramas, this is worth your time. Recommended
The Order will be available to purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 18, 2025.

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
