The Punisher’s Showrunner Would Like to Bring ‘BLADE’ Back

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13919″ img_size=”825×464″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]In a word of the MCU, it’s easy to forget that we have had Marvel movies that were made and released before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was born. One of these that is constantly being brought up is Blade and the want/need for fans to see Wesley Snipes back in action as the gritty character. Snipes himself has been pushing to bring this character back and though at one time John Ridley was developing a return, the project never took off.

You know who would be perfect for the task? The Punisher’s showrunner Steve Lightfoot and it’s a project he’d like to take on. While speaking about the second season of The Punisher, which premiered this Friday; he spoke about what comic book project he’d like to take on if he were to take on another:

Lightfoot: The nice thing about being a writer and creator of shows is that people offer you really exciting and interesting characters. You never want to say now. It depends on the character and IP. But, I’ve had a blast on this show and hope that it continues.

Q: Do you have any characters in mind?

Lightfoot: I have no idea who owns it, but I’ve always loved the Blade Character. I think that would be a great one to come back with. I thought those movies were great and I love that mythology. I’m a big horror fan, and as a fan of that it would be a fun one to play around with.

Considering the brutal, gritty nature of The Punisher and the fact that Lightfoot was behind the horror series Hannibal, he’d be perfect for the job. I only request that we bring in Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle for one bloody duo on screen? Please? What do you think about Lightfoot tackling Blade and have you watched The Punisher season two on Netflix?
