Normally, it would take a year to get from season to season; however, we’ve eclipsed that time frame. It’s been 381 days since we’ve seen the Army of the Dead walking past the Wall, since Jaime rode North alone, and since Jon and Dany had boat sex. That’s too long. Fans, especially me, are itching to find out what happens to our favorite characters. So, while I was over the moon that Thrones won, I was very eager to see what was going to be asked afterward.
Shortly after winning the award, the cast and crew assembled to field questions, and, no one’s surprise, one of the first questions asked was regarding the wait for season 8. Writer David Benioff answered with the following quote: “The final season’s taking a long time because it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever done. It was nearly a full year in Belfast either prepping it or actually shooting it. I think when people see it they’re going to understand why it took so long. The last season is far beyond anything we’ve ever attempted before.”
“FAR BEYOND ANYTHING WE’VE EVER ATTEMPTED BEFORE.” That’s the one line that sticks out to me. Of course, we knew this season was going to be utterly epic, but to hear the writers confirm what almost every other member of the crew has said is very exciting. It makes me wonder what they could be thinking of. With moments like Battle of the Bastards, the Sept of Baelor explosion, the Battle of Blackwater Bay explosion, and even the Loot Train Attack, what more could be coming? I would venture to say it’s got something to do with Viserion fighting Rhaegal and Drogon and the Army of the Dead marching on Winterfell. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I think that’s the big “holy crap” moment of season 8. But who knows? I could be totally wrong. All I really know is season 8 is going to blow people’s mind, and I’m 100% here for it…just as long as they keep Bronn, Drogon, Arya, Dany, and Jon alive…seriously, please don’t let Drogon die.

A few of my favorite things include my pet dragon (Drogon), Game of Thrones, Disney movies and theme parks, the MCU, DC movies, Star Wars, sports, and my rather large Funko Pop collection. Daenerys Targaryen is my queen, Robert Downey Jr is my man crush, and Simba is my spirit animal.
