Mick Jagger is mostly known for his long career as the lead singer of the legendary rock band The Rolling Stones. The singer hasn’t acted since 2001’s The Man from Elysian Fields. While his bandmate Keith Richards picked up the Pirates of the Caribbean paycheck, Jagger turned a part for the franchise down. Now, he’s going back into the acting world with the neo-noir art heist thriller The Burnt Orange Heresy.
Donald Sutherland plays a reclusive artist for The Burnt Orange Heresy, which will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 7th of this year. The movie will close out the festival. The Burnt Orange Heresy will be an out-of-competition screening in the Sala Grande after the awards ceremony has concluded.
This erotic neo-noir is based on the 1971 novel by Charles Willeford. The film was directed by Giuseppe Capotondi. The film is set in present-day Italy, as opposed to the early seventies as it was set when Christopher Walken was originally meant to play the role of Debney.
Jagger plays Cassidy, an art collector who hires art critic James Figueras and his lover Berenice Hollis to steal a piece of art [a painting] from Jerome Debney, played by Sutherland.
What do you think about Jagger stepping back into the acting world for this film and have you read the 1971 novel?
