The Walking Dead Movies Won’t Be Just a “Long Episode”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”9916″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Andrew Lincoln has left The Walking Dead…kind of.

Although Rick Grimes will not be returning to the series, which is confirmed; he will be reprising his role as the former Alexandrian leader in the upcoming TWD movies. Rick was saved by Jadis in his final episode along with her helicopter buddies, so he was not killed off like many of us believed he would be. How else does the main character of the show leave after nine seasons alive?

Lincoln spoke about the nature of the movies:

“It was a compromise because I didn’t want to be disingenuous to fans, but then of course, I didn’t want to give away the story. It was a concern that we start saying one thing and people are anticipating a death, and we don’t give them that. You can’t please all people all of the time. That’s why I try to stay out of reading about things like that. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed in the morning.”

He then went on to describe the style of the movies, considering this is unchartered territory for everyone:

“We talked about Unforgiven, the Clint Eastwood movie, which I admire greatly. There’s something about Eastwood, who he is as a gunslinger, as an iconic kind of American hero, rolling around in pig swill at the beginning of the movie. You know what he’s capable of, and I thought the idea of a character that the audience knows and has lived with — and who has oscillated between psycho and father for nine years — to start in a completely different place, was a really interesting, crazy place to begin. I want to know why we keep seeing helicopters flying around. What’s going on? What have the grown-ups been doing while we’ve been scrambling around in the dirt?”

We want to know, how did you feel about Rick’s last episode? What about the movies? What are your thoughts about the direction the series is now taken? Let us know![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
