[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Negan is back in a brand new promo video for The Walking Dead. Season nine will be Andrew Lincoln’s last season and from what we can see, the fight between Rick and Negan is still not over yet. Similar in the comics, Rick will make frequent visits to the former leader of the Saviors in a makeshift prison in Alexandria. In a conversation with showrunner Angela Kang, she dives further into the reasons why Rick Grimes continuously goes down to speak with Negan, who has killed several of the those close to him in horrific ways.
“I think in a lot of ways, Rick goes down there and it’s part therapy and part gloating. They’re just trying to work their way through it,” Kang said. “They both feel in some ways like dinosaurs after the war. As Rick is trying to figure out what’s the next step, what’s the next mission, Negan kind of needles him, but Rick needs to be able to justify, ‘This is why I kept you alive, it’s so that we can have a future.’”
Things will be different, obviously; from the comics, where it’s Carl who frequents Negan in his jail cell. Carl was killed off in season eight, a move that no one saw coming. With Carl and Rick out of the show, where does this leave Negan? Maggie will also be leaving, so will it be Michonne dealing with the “big bad”? And will Negan come to help the Alexandrians as they fight their most ruthless villains yet, the Whisperers?
