“Why the hell do you always have to be right?” – Dick Greyson
“Becasue i’m older, smarter, and prettier than you.” – Donna Troy
This weeks episode is titled, Donna Troy, also known as Wonder Girl, played by Conor Leslie. The show starts off with Dick, played by Brenton Thwaites, leaving the group to find answers about who he is or who he should become. Dick decides to go to an old friend, Donna, who he used to work with while Batman and Diana were working together. This episode, much like almost all the episodes, had a lot to tackle. From Kory, played by Anna Diop, regaining her memories back little by little, Rachel, played by Teagan Croft, trying to connect with her mom, played by Rachel Nichols, Garfield, played by Ryan Potter, feeling scared that Rachel might not like him anymore, and Dick trying to figure out who he is.
“You know when Diana took me in, she showed me how to fill the hole that fire left in my life with love and with family. That’s just what the Amazons do. They have a tradition of empowerment and self-discovery. Bruce filled that hole in your life the only way he knew how. With rage and violence.” – Donna Troy
Conor Leslie is perfect casting as Donna Troy. Conor gives off these loving vibes that anyone would want as an older sister and it fits amazingly well with the story that the creators are building up. Her interactions with Dick, whether it is teasing, getting upset and giving him advice; just shows how much the two characters have chemistry. These two remind me so much of Wonder Woman and Batman. Dick does not believe in absolutes only in what if, much like Batman, Donna can be too kind, but still, have a temper, much like Diana, Dick is a man of action never has patients always headstrong much like Batman, Donna is patient, caring but still has that warrior spirit much like Diana. These two were born to take care of each other as brother and sister must.
“Wonder Woman was born to protect the innocent. Batman was created to punish the guilty. But we’re not them neither one of us. I didn’t quite being Wonder Girl. I just realized I could do more good being Donna Troy. Do you understand?” – Donna Troy
Donna has learned what she must do to be different from Wonder Woman. Now, it is Dick’s turn to figure out what he must do to be different. Learn to respect Batman for all he has done, not to be angry be all of Batman’s best qualities and get rid of the bad, be better. Learn to be your own person this is what Dick Greyson has to learn. Donna knows this but she knows that he has to figure all of that himself.
“You will never be a civillian, Dick. You lost that chance the day you became Robin. You can’t be robin anymore, becasue for all the good he did, ultamtly he was an echo chamber for Bruce’s pain… And for yours.” – Donna Troy
Everything about their characters is flawed and that is a good thing because they are still young and both are still learning to be their selves. Kory, on the other hand, is still trying to remember who she is. Rachel and Garfield are trying to figure if they fit in society. On top of the Racheal is trying to reconnect with her mother. Everything about this show and its characters are very strong. Figuring who they are and what they want to do. This show should resonate with everyone because we all are trying to figure out who we are or what we are trying to do.
