I know people are going to have a field day with this. According to TMZ, the news report that rocked social media yesterday about Henry Cavill not returning as Superman is fake. The fact is, there are no Superman movies in the works. Everything relies on the director if they want Henry as Superman. If a Man of Steel centered movie does come out and they want Henry as the actor involved, that’s still on the playing field. From TMZ:
Sources in the know tell TMZ, there’s no real discussion over the main role because there’s no active ‘Superman’ project. It’s true … Cavill has felt he was underpaid for the role and that’s an issue, as is what some say was an underwhelming performance.
We’re told if and when the next ‘Superman’ project is greenlit, Cavill along with others would be in play. If, for example, a director felt he was the perfect guy for the role, he could end up with another cape assuming he and the studio could come to terms.
But, how long are we talking? Henry couldn’t cameo in Shazam due to scheduling conflicts and Cavill is certainly gaining traction in movies, so would he even be available if and when someone finally decides to put Superman in the DCEU again? While this does break up the conspiracy that there were conflicts between the studio and Cavill, the fact remains that there are no immediate plans to bring Cavill back in for a movie. Hopefully, this outrage over him not being the character anymore will inspire the studio to finally make a Man of Steel 2.
