The Marvel news at Disney’s Investor Day yesterday was full of goodies. Trailers for the upcoming Disney+ shows were released. A ton of shows were announced. And we got some great movie news – such as Christian Bale’s character in Thor: Love and Thunder. And that Kevin Feige is preparing a Fantastic Four movie, directed by Spider-Man’s director Jon Watts. It was a good day to be a Marvel fan.
What Will ‘Loki’ Be About?
One of the trailers that stood out the most was the Loki trailer. Considering how much of a fan I am, I’m probably biased here. But, we had already heard a lot and have seen trailers from WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier before. This was the first full-length trailer for the Loki show. A show that promises to be just as whacky as some of the other MCU projects we can expect. WandaVision, Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness, and Antman and The Wasp: Quantumania? It’s going to be an insane new phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I wanted to particularly point out a small scene in the Loki trailer that was interesting to me. It’s the scene where Loki is clean-shaven and looking more like Tom Hiddleston – where he jumps out of a plane.

The Legend of DB Cooper
Many people online are pointing out the similarities between this scene and the urban legend of DB Cooper. For those who don’t know, DB Cooper is the pseudonym for an unnamed plane hijacker in 1971. On November 24th, it’s reported that this man hijacked a Boeing 727 and extorted $200,000 in ransom. By today’s calculations, that amount would equal a little over a million dollars in today’s world. He then parachuted out of the plane, never to be seen again. DB Cooper has become a legend, because he was never caught and his real name was not known – you could apparently do that back in the day while purchasing a plane ticket.
The legend of DB Cooper has been talked about in Prison Break, 30 Rock, Drunk History, and more. And now it’s pretty obvious that the Loki series is the next one.
Is Loki DB Cooper here? Since the show is about him jumping around through time, it’s possible that Loki could be the legend of DB Cooper – but, why though? Why is a god hijacking a plane? Why is he dressed like such a Midgardian? I’m really excited for the Loki show, even if I’m still not too aware of what it’s going to be about. It almost reminds me of the first season of the Umbrella Academy. Anything with time jumping I’m here for – it can get really weird in the best of ways.
What do you think about the Loki trailer?
A girl with too many fandoms to count.
